A Brave Qiaoyi

It has been quite sometime since my last update on Qiaoyi's treatment of scars. The progress of healing is rather slow as the scars have been either stubborn or at one occasion it grew back.

This morning we sent her to Sunway Medical Centre for the follow up check for her 9th jab taken on 5th September, 2009. For the past nine injections treatment, Qiaoyi received full general anaesthetic procedure which would make her sleep before the injection was administered directly to the scars. These procedure required admission for day care surgery. She is supposed to take only six course of injection but as of today, she has taken the 10th injection !!

Many had questioned why she needed to go for full general anestassia for fearing of side effect. We actually had no choice but to accept this procedure since we are worried that she is not able to endure the multiple needles pain, and indeed, as informed by most of the doctors we have enquired, the injection into the scar is very very painful.

Her scar condition got better after the 9th injection. However, the outer side of the scars are still quite hard whereas the centre part has almost flattened.

Her doctor suggested another possibly last injection next week and wanted to arrange for booking of operating room. Suddenly, for no reason words came out from my mouth that maybe Qiaoyi should just try local anaesthetic for the injection which is so much easier and faster, and it can be done in the normal treatment room. All of us were hesitated for a while before agreeing on this though worrying about the pain.

We told Qiaoyi about this and she agreed to try out this method. Without waiting for the next appointment, Doctor Tan wanted to have it done immediately. We were worried but proud that she has bravely endured the pain when the multiple local anaesthetic were injected into the skin around her scars..of course she cried but she has both her mummy and daddy standing beside her to give her courage and strengh. We praised God for giving her the extraordinary courage and strenght to face the trial and lead her go through this...

The whole procedure was fast over after 25 minutes and she was able to walk down from the bed and gave us a relieved smile ! What a braved Qiaoyi she has been...we are really proud of our little angel...

P/s : Her scars were covered with blood after the injection and I actually didn't have the courage to look on it. My heart bleed in pain when I saw the needle poking non-stop into her skin and scars...
