A Brave Qiaoyi

It has been quite sometime since my last update on Qiaoyi's treatment of scars. The progress of healing is rather slow as the scars have been either stubborn or at one occasion it grew back.

This morning we sent her to Sunway Medical Centre for the follow up check for her 9th jab taken on 5th September, 2009. For the past nine injections treatment, Qiaoyi received full general anaesthetic procedure which would make her sleep before the injection was administered directly to the scars. These procedure required admission for day care surgery. She is supposed to take only six course of injection but as of today, she has taken the 10th injection !!

Many had questioned why she needed to go for full general anestassia for fearing of side effect. We actually had no choice but to accept this procedure since we are worried that she is not able to endure the multiple needles pain, and indeed, as informed by most of the doctors we have enquired, the injection into the scar is very very painful.

Her scar condition got better after the 9th injection. However, the outer side of the scars are still quite hard whereas the centre part has almost flattened.

Her doctor suggested another possibly last injection next week and wanted to arrange for booking of operating room. Suddenly, for no reason words came out from my mouth that maybe Qiaoyi should just try local anaesthetic for the injection which is so much easier and faster, and it can be done in the normal treatment room. All of us were hesitated for a while before agreeing on this though worrying about the pain.

We told Qiaoyi about this and she agreed to try out this method. Without waiting for the next appointment, Doctor Tan wanted to have it done immediately. We were worried but proud that she has bravely endured the pain when the multiple local anaesthetic were injected into the skin around her scars..of course she cried but she has both her mummy and daddy standing beside her to give her courage and strengh. We praised God for giving her the extraordinary courage and strenght to face the trial and lead her go through this...

The whole procedure was fast over after 25 minutes and she was able to walk down from the bed and gave us a relieved smile ! What a braved Qiaoyi she has been...we are really proud of our little angel...

P/s : Her scars were covered with blood after the injection and I actually didn't have the courage to look on it. My heart bleed in pain when I saw the needle poking non-stop into her skin and scars...

Qiaoyi's trip to BookFest @ Malaysia 2009

We took Qiaoyi to the Bookfest @ Malaysia 2009 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Sunday afternoon despite the fear of A(H1N1) outbreak.

We have read a lot about the bookfest in newspaper and thought it might be a good idea to take her there to catch up with some of her favourite books since the school holiday is coming to an end. So, we bought Qiaoyi some of her favourite colouring book and a comic book which is well known to most Chinese primary school students, ie " Ge Mei Lia " ( 哥妹俩 )!

The best part was, she managed to get the author of the comic book to sign on the book she bought and took a picture with him as a rememberance...how sweet !

Author of " Ge Mei Lia " , was seen busy signing for his little fans !

This is the ever popular comic book " Ge Mei Lia "

Happy Birthday, Qiaoyi !

Happy birthday to you, Qiaoyi......
Today is Qiaoyi's 7th years old birthday. She wanted a Minnie Mouse picture cake, so this is the cake we bought for her with many fruits topping

This morning when she woke up, she told me that she didn't really feel like celebrating her birthday because this would mean that she has to throw away her milk bottle and she would cry..that's what she said. I was speechless this morning !

I told her it was alright if she still want to keep the milk bottle for few days as I know that it would be hard initially, so take it easy. So she smiled..

By evening I went over to the cake shop to collect the cake, and she hesitated if she still want to blow her cake. Qiaoyi told me that she preferred the milk bottle than the birthday, she doesn't want any birthday, she just wanted to stay that way....! I told my little girl that every kid needs to grow up, there is no way she could just stay that way. Growing up is part of the life and she should learn to face it confidently.

After much persuasion and reasoning with her, she finally agreed to the birthday celebration and happily blowed the candles light away !

The ant bites

This evening when Qiaoyi returned from school, the first thing she told me was that she was very braved in school because her both arms got bite by the ants, and she did not cry !

I got a shock and asked her what happened. The true story was that she had 2 immunization injections in the school. Her teacher told the class that it is like an ant bite and therefore no need to feel afraid, ha !

This was the first time Qiaoyi had injection without her mummy and daddy around and we are proud that she took it bravely, something she has been doing for her scar treatments...

She is not alone

It was raining in Sunway area in the morning when we were leaving the hospital after Qiaoyi had her follow up check up. Well, she is due for another injection treatment next Sunday.

Her scar seemed to look flatter a bit after the 5th injection. We are hoping that after the coming 6th injection, we will be able to see a better result and hope to stop from there. Seriously, it is such a stressful process as the recovery is very slow and takes very long time. It really required a lot of patience to go through it...
After raining, the air quality in Klang has improved. The sky was so hazy in the last few days that we felt so difficult to breath and stayed at home most of the time.

Since the sky is clear, I decided to take Qiaoyi for a jog in the evening which she has been looking forward for quite some time. I did not take her for the jog lately as she was disturbed by the hazy cough for the past 10 days.

She really enjoyed the jog. In fact, she ran instead of jog, ha ! We jogged two rounds around the field in front of the house. Most of the time we tried to keep the same pace so that we could jogged side by side and laughed along the way.

After two rounds, Qiaoyi requested to get into the playground and settled for her favourite swing. She was very happy with the swing and kept calling out loud to the sky. Wonder if the sky could hear her....!!!

Doing things together with our children is actually fun. This is the time we can have a closer bonding relationship with them and enjoy the great moments together. I believed, as the kids grow older, we may miss the opportunity of doing things together. So, i really treasured every moment of it, especially with Qiaoyi who needs our love and support to face the painful treatments courageously.....and we want her to know that, she is not alone !

Trip to Damai Laut...

This was the place we went for holiday , Swiss Garden Golf and Spa Resort, Damai Laut on 30-05-09. We enjoyed the trip very much and this was what we had promised the girls, especially Qiaoyi...

Qiaoyi was quite mad that I kept asking her to pose for the photo taking, look at her face....

So happy after the dinner....willing to pose !

This was taken after the breakfast in the garden, behind her was actually the sea....i really like this view !

Qiaoyi likes to dip into the pool, each time we went for holiday, she couldn't wait to get into the pool..and that was the time she enjoyed the most.
